WNBA star Caitlin Clark adds another entry to the mashup between her love for basketball and Connecticut native Taylor Swift with this new Nike Caitlin 1 colorway inspired by one of the pop superstar’s most well-known fan traditions.
The Indiana Fever guard recently flaunted the bespoke “Friendship Bracelet” Caitlin 1s, which celebrate the one-of-a-kind friendship bracelets Swifites traded during Taylor Swift’s record-setting Eras Tour. Clark has previously declared herself a longtime Swift fan, though she seems genuinely excited about the new sneakers and hyped the preview to her followers.
These shoes are designed with a soft blush-toned base highlighted by a gold Nike Swoosh, and Clark’s signature logo on the tongue is made up of regal blue. But the most impactful detail is the fuzzy lacing system adorned with colorful bead charms. One shoe features “CC” for the initial of and honor to Caitlin Clark, while the other showcases “22,” paying homage to her jersey number.
When the shoes were presented, Clark reacted by calling them her desired means. Within hours of its release, the design caught attention from basketball fans and Swifties alike, as many connected the dots with Swift’s well-known ritual at her concerts.
And its not the first time Clark has sprinkled in Swift-esque details to her basketball kicks. In early June, she donned a pair of Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Eras Tour” Player Exclusives during an Indiana Fever game against the Chicago Sky. The shoes were designed with a vibrant color palette inspired by the aesthetics of Swift’s Eras Tour, accented with fuchsia, canary yellow, and green.
Clark also had friendship bracelets woven into her socks for that appearance, which only cements the Taylor Swift shot higher there. Previously, she announced that she’s a huge Swift camp fan and the Eras Tour was one of the superior shows she’d been to at this point.
Clark has received a lot of attention lately, not just for the shoes but because of his connection to Swift. The basketball star previously sat with Swift in a suite at a Chiefs game back in Jan. 2025, where they cheered for Travis Kelce and the Chiefs.
So the most recent Caitlin 1 design comes as an organic extension of Clark’s already deep-seated admiration for the musician. It also shows how the hoops great keeps finding ways to inject aspects of her personality and hobbies into her namesake silhouette.
As for a public retail release of the Friendship Bracelet Caitlin 1s, it remains to be seen if or when that will take place. Still, the special edition has drummed up its fair share of buzz, especially among fans of both Clark and Swift.
As Clark rises in prominence and Swift maintains her roaring global fanbase, the crossover provides a unique moment bridging two fervent communities.
